Shockwave FAQs

Why Shockwave?
More than 100 million Christians are being persecuted worldwide for our faith.  Every minute of every day brothers and sisters are facing injustice, are being beaten or imprisoned or lose their lives for our faith.

Who are Open Doors?
Open Door's vision is of a world in which every Christian who is persecuted is remembered and supported by other Christians.
We seek to alleviate their suffering, and to help them extend God's Kingdom in their part of the world.
Our vision is to strengthen and equip the Body of Christ in closed countries and to mobilize the free world to stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters through prayer, financial support and by visiting them.  (1 Corinthians 12:13)

What is MHB?
My Heart Bleeds is the cry of the Persecuted Church. We believe that young people play an integral role in fulfilling the core vision of Open Doors, which is:
"To strengthen and equip the Body of Christ facing restriction and persecution and to encourage their involvement in world evangelism."

What do I do as part of Shockwave?
Shockwave is an international prayer event where young people come together to make a stand for their faith and pray for the persecuted Church.  All we ask is that you pray at some time during the weekend of the 2-4th of March, 2012.

What else can I do to help support Persecuted Christians?

Why should we pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters living in the midst of Islam?

  • When we pray, God prepares people's hears to hear and see the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • When we pray, God equips His children to do His work regardless of the circumstances they live in.
  • As we pray God protects His children and helps them with the work they must do for Him daily.
  • When we pray we are a voice for someone else who cannot pray for him or herself at that very moment. We intervene on their behalf in prayer.
  • When we speak to God our words make a difference to the lives of our brothers and sisters around the world.

What should we pray for?

  • Pray that God will give our brothers and sisters the strength to stand strong in their faith when being persecuted and discriminated against because of our faith.
  • Pray for their safety and their families, as they risk their lives to share their faith with non believers.
  • Pray that the believers will live out their faith in the midst of Islam, despite the dangers and the cost they have counted.
  • Pray that our brothers and sisters will be obedient to God's calling in their lives.
  • Pray that God will strengthen the Body of Christ, the Church, in the difficult times they endure.
  • Pray for the MBB's who have come to know Jesus and have lost everything, their families, their homes, their jobs, just because they chose to live for Jesus.
  • Pray that God will heal the hearts of the persecuted, beaten, raped brothers and sisters and those who have lost someone dear to them.
