What characteristics do I need as a Champion?

Being a Champion is not always easy... The characteristics listed below are crucial to being in the role of an Open Doors Champion.

Spiritual Preparation

When we become involved with the Lord and His Church we are not automatically clothed with the spiritual virtues befitting a representative. It will require a special effort and a conscious choice to take upon ourselves these Godly virtues.

Compassion

Demonstrate in your behaviour compassion for the church you represent, that is, the Persecuted Church as well as the people you encounter on your visits.

Humility

You go on behalf of the Persecuted Church as their servant.
"Clothe yourselves; all of you, with humility towards one another... for God sets Himself against the proud." (1 Peter 5:5)

Gentleness

Be gentle when dealing with those who have little or no knowledge of the plight of our brothers and sisters under persecution. Their attitude can sometimes be hard to take, ut we must gently seek to help them understand.

Patience

Be patient, you are working for God and He will set the agenda. He will open the doors and He will influence the response.

Respect

When a church invites you to do a presentation, you are their guests. You must show proper respect at all times.
"Show a proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the king." (1 Peter 2:17)
