What is a Champion?

A 'Champion' can be defined as 'someone who fights for a cause'

For us at Open Doors Australia, a Champion is someone who fights for the cause of the Persecuted Church. This is someone who goes the extra mile to serve, pray for, and act on behalf of persecuted Christians around the world.

The Open Doors Champions program enlists committed supporters from all across Australia who look at the ways things are and decide to fight for this cause. The beauty of this program is that we are all different; we have different giftings and different spheres of influence, and God wants to use each one of us, where we are, for the strengthening of His Persecuted Church.

The ethos of the Champions program is summed up in these words from Edward Everett Hale - "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do, I ought to do and, by the grace of God, I will do."

In becoming an Open Doors Champion, you are making a decision to make yourself available to impact your sphere of influence for the benefit of God's Persecuted Church. What you do, and how you do it, will be up to you; but we'll be there supporting you as we work together to make that vital difference for those who share our faith but not our freedom.
