Five Reasons to Celebrate 2018
At Open Doors, 2018 has been a huge year as we’ve worked together to strengthen the local church in some of the hardest places on the planet to be a Christian. Persecution has increased, but the gospel continues to spread.
Here are five ways you made a difference for persecuted Christians across the world in 2018.
March | One With Them
In March, we stood One With Them by giving one day’s wage for the persecuted church.
Thank you to our ambassadors and over 1,000 people across Australia and New Zealand who raised 250K to strengthen the local church in order to keep being the hands and feet of Jesus in some of the darkest places on the planet.
August | Open Doors Live
We gathered to hear first-hand stories from the persecuted church at Open Doors Live. Over 1,100 people heard the story of the persecuted church brought to life across four different cities in Australia and New Zealand.
September | Walk To Water
We walked to practically support persecuted Christians in a war-torn country in the Middle East. Hundreds of people chose to walk, run or cycle to raise over 50K for believers who have been devastated and displaced by war.
These funds provided persecuted Christians with food, water, clothing, medical care and education to ensure the local church and their community has a hope and a future.
October | Helping Christian Families in India
Persecution is on the rise and the leader of a radical Hindu group vowed to eradicate Christianity from India by 2021.
In order to ensure the survival of the church, we asked believers across Australia and New Zealand to help strengthen the next generation of Christians in India. Your support helped train 2,000 Sunday school teachers, and strengthen 600 families who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus.
November | Knot Forgotten
As the cost of following Jesus is increasing around the world, the children of persecuted believers are most vulnerable. We distributed more than 1800 handmade toys to children in the field. Many of these children had been displaced and were living as refugees or were suffering for their parent’s faith in Jesus.
Thank you for encouraging and strengthening young children by delivering handmade Knot Forgotten toys.
Thank you for supporting the persecuted church in 2018.
