NORTH KOREA: NATION FACES FOOD CRISIS

In the face of a severe food crisis, North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, has ordered its people to eat less food.

Farming in North Korea is difficult due to flooding, heavy rain, drought, and poverty. Of the little food produced, most goes directly to the military, leaving millions struggling to survive on what remains.

COVID-19 has only made the situation worse. Many useful farming supplies are no longer affordable, and producing food is more expensive than ever.

According to the UN, at least 10 million people, or 40% of the population, are now in need of urgent food aid.

North Korean escapee, Timothy Cho, said, “North Korea’s humanitarian situation has been a grave concern since the 1990s when millions of people starved. The country is in danger of facing a similar crisis again.

“But I don’t lose hope for my people, because I know even if one faithful person remains in this country and will stand in the name of our Heavenly Father, I believe He will hear their prayers. And in fact, we know there are tens of thousands of believers in North Korea calling on the name of the Lord.”
