Iran | Pray For Iranian Christians

Urgent prayers are needed for Iranian Christians. Iran has begun a fresh and aggressive crackdown on believers.

Since 12 July, more than 50 Iranian Christian converts have been arrested in a series of new and sudden incidents across five different Iranian cities, including the capital city, Tehran. Those arrested remain in detention on unknown charges, while a few others have been released on bail. We will continue to share any updates as they come.

Iran is ruled by an increasingly strict Islamic regime, which views the existence of Iranian house churches as an attempt by Western countries to undermine Islam and its authority.

State surveillance is on the rise and the authorities are exerting an increasing grip on daily life and activities, an attitude reflected in the harsh responses to the protests that followed the death of Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022.

Converts from Islam are at very high risk in Iran. Christians meeting in urban areas are more likely to be monitored and arrested by the authorities.

Iran is #8 on the World Watch List.

Pray For Iranian Christians:

  • Pray that the sudden crackdown and arrests will stop.
  • Pray that Christians in Iran facing fear today may be encouraged and strengthened knowing that they are not alone.
  • Pray that those who have been arrested will be spared any torture or harsh interrogations and that they will be set free soon. May God strengthen them, and may they feel His presence with them during these difficult hours or days.
  • Pray that the hearts of the leaders will be softened and changed by the Holy Spirit. May they know Him and be transformed by the gospel.
