Serving the persecuted through partnership

Why Your Partnership Matters

For centuries, the advancement of the gospel has depended on two kinds of people: those who go and those who send.

From Joanna supporting Jesus’ ministry, to Phoebe and Lydia enabling Paul’s mission, Church history tells a powerful story: faithful partners have always played a vital role in God’s work. Behind great movements of faith, from William Tyndale’s Bible translation to the spread of the underground Church in China, generous believers have prayed, given, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with those on the frontlines.

In 1955, Brother Andrew began smuggling Bibles into places where God’s Word was forbidden. He never worked alone. Gospel partners made it possible, offering prayer, resources, and encouragement that delivered hope where it was needed most.

Today, you can join that same legacy. By partnering with Open Doors, you help persecuted Christians endure, grow, and share the light of Jesus in the world’s hardest places, ensuring no believer stands alone.

Your Partnership Changes Lives

At Open Doors, we are deeply committed to using every gift with excellence and integrity. Our work is shaped by the needs of the persecuted Church, ensuring your partnership brings real and lasting impact where it matters most.

Pastor Laxman, India

“The church is closed but my ministry continues.”

After facing arrest and beatings for leading his church, Pastor Laxman and his family struggled for food and hope. Open Doors partners, whom he had never met, provided groceries, helped start a small farm, and offered prayer and encouragement. “They helped us financially and strengthened us with prayer and the Word of God,” he shares. Because of key partners like you, Laxman’s ministry endures even when the doors are shut.

Pastor Laxman, India

“Thank you, everyone! I am grateful to God. I could truly feel His and your love. Even though we do not know each other, it feels like we know each other in Jesus Christ. Your loving support has helped me to remove my burdens.”

Hoon was able to stay at a safe house for North Korean believers run by Open Doors’ fieldworkers in China. Your partnership provides safety, spiritual care, and hope for believers like Hoon who risk everything for Jesus.

Nadia*, Arabian Peninsula

“The idea of so many people around the world praying for me and for the people in this area really gives hope as to how connected we are as the body of Christ.”

Nadia is a secret believer who risks her life to meet with other Christians. She is sustained by the prayers and support of her global family. Your partnership
reminds believers like Nadia that they are not alone.

Jemal*, Ethiopia

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to [you]. This ministry helped us to stand on our feet. You helped us feed our children. I really love this ministry. May God bless you all!”

When a violent mob of Muslims burnt down every Christian home and business in Jemal’s community, he lost everything. But the generosity of selfless supporters provided for his family and helped restore his home and livelihood. “One Christian can be medicine for another Christian,” he says.

STEWARDSHIP

  • How are you held financially accountable?

Open Doors is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ABN: 52209804287). We produce an annual budget which is approved by our Board and Open Doors International, and we report our progress to both groups monthly. Our accounts are audited annually by an independent firm of auditors. We are also a member of the Financial Institute of Australia (FIA) and compliant with their fundraising code.

  • How do I know my donation is getting to where you said it would?

We are committed to the wise stewardship of each of your gifts and hold financial transparency and integrity very highly. In our annual report you can see a breakdown of how your donations were invested in serving the persecuted and strengthening the Church. We seek to be honourable in the way we handle all gifts to the persecuted church. As the Apostle Paul shared,

“We are traveling together to guard against any criticism for the way we are handling this generous gift. We are careful to be honourable before the Lord, but we also want everyone else to see that we are honourable.” 2 Corinthians 8:20-21

  • Is Open Doors Australia Tax Deductible?

The distribution of Bibles, Christian literature, and discipleship training programs do not meet the criteria for Open Doors to be tax deductible because they are gospel advancing. We are so thankful for the generosity of our supporters who choose to strengthen the persecuted Church, even without a tax benefit or deduction. While some projects Open Doors funds are eligible for tax deductibility, these are not available to be funded through our core campaigns which always integrate Bible distribution and discipleship with the other training, counselling, or emergency relief programs.

  • Why Are Other Christian Charities Tax Deductible?

Many people often ask why all donations to other organisations are eligible for a tax rebate. Many charities like this fall under the category of humanitarian aid and are not focused on strengthening Christians and growing the Church.

  • How is my donation used?

We are so thankful for the generosity of our supporters. Each gift is allocated to specific projects and needs of the field. When you choose to give to ‘Where Most Needed’ it allows us to equip our local partners to best meet the needs of local believers suffering discrimination and persecution, where and when it is most needed. When donations are given towards specific regions or projects, these are allocated to those needs. The field reports on the budget and actual spending of each activity along with the believers impacted and how that aligns with our mission to serve the persecuted and strengthen the Church.

While our work may look different depending on the needs of persecuted believers, there are core programs that we run to serve the persecuted and strengthen the Church. These include:

    Distributing Bibles and Christian Resources

Despite increased security control and restrictions, Open Doors provides contextualised Christian materials in minority languages.

Last year, Open Doors distributed more than 2.5 million Bibles and books worldwide.

    Training Christians and Church Leaders

In the last year, Open Doors trained 5.7 million persecuted Christians across the world. Trainings include leadership and discipleship courses, trauma care, and persecution survival seminars.

Supporting Victims of Violence and Disaster

In 2024, Open Doors helped 535,000 persecuted Christians with emergency relief, community development, education, and medical care.

    Raising Awareness and Encouraging Prayer

“Our prayers can go where we cannot.” — Brother Andrew, founder of Open Doors.

Across the world, we mobilise prayer support for Christians suffering persecution and discrimination for their faith. We encourage the global Church to stand with them in prayer so that they know they are not alone.

“In Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

Romans 12:5
