“I was seven years old when I gave my life to Christ,” Aicha says softly.
It was after she met Pastor Steven, a travelling evangelist and a man sold out for the gospel. “I told the pastor I would like to give my life to Jesus, because I heard that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
It was a daring decision for someone so young and born into Islam. Expectedly, it led to trouble. Despite brutal beatings from her uncles and aunt, Aicha refused to break. Instead, she grew in God’s Word—a knowledge that transformed her, her younger siblings and, eventually, her parents.
“I believe God gave our children the boldness to persevere through persecution,” Asseta, Aicha’s mother, reflects. “It was God’s plan for the children to stand firm and later lead us to salvation.”
